What are Veneers?
Veneers are thin coverings that can be placed over your existing teeth. They are useful when it comes to cover flaws and minor imperfections that are causing you to feel badly about your appearance. Rather than go for more invasive cosmetic work, veneers are easy to make and place over the front teeth. They’re durable, so it’s common for veneers to last for upwards of 10 years.
Why are Veneers needed?
The reason you might need or even want veneers is because you’re tired of the way that your smile looks. You might be attending a big event or have a wedding coming up, so you’ll want to look your best. Many people who have cracked, chipped, discolored, spaced and even jagged-looking front teeth may choose veneers as a way to makeover their entire smile. Veneers are great for otherwise healthy adult patients who want a dramatic change to their appearance.
Who is a candidate for Veneers?
We first examine your teeth to determine if veneers are right for you. The front teeth need to be otherwise healthy and free of decay and other dental problems. Most patients who want veneers can safely have the procedure done at their own convenience. These veneers are durable and can be treated the same way you’d treat other restorations in your mouth currently.
What happens during the Veneer procedure?
The procedure begins by filing down and smoothing the fronts of your teeth. This ensures a solid fit for the veneers and prevents them from looking too bulky. We then take detailed impressions of your teeth and use these molds to make the actual veneers. You will come in for a second appointment so that we can place the actual veneers. Once they’re placed, we will make any slight adjustments to them as needed. Most of our patients are in shock at how different they look with the veneers in place. You will have a full, white and healthy-looking smile that requires little maintenance to keep looking its best.
